Why it does more harm than good

There is a widespread misunderstanding that you can extend the life of the filter of an Air Purifier by “vacuuming” it. This can give you a false sense of security, even though the Air Purifier is no longer able to ensure your air quality at full capacity.

The following points explain why exactly Vacuuming the filter of an Air Purifier is generally not recommended:

Risk of Damage: Vacuuming a filter can potentially damage the delicate fibers or components of the filter, reducing its effectiveness.
Release of Particles: Vacuuming can release trapped particles back into the air, which can defeat the purpose of using an air purifier.

Use Pre-Filters: If available Pre-filters capture larger dust particles, prolonging the lifetime of the main HEPA filter of an Air Purifier. Pre-Filters can usually be either cleaned regularly (even weekly) under running water or per the manufacturer's instructions.
Replace the Filter: When the filter needs replacement, follow the manufacturer's recommendations for purchasing a new filter and installing it correctly.
Monitor Filter Life: Keep track of the filter's lifespan based on usage and air quality conditions. Replace the filter promptly when it reaches the end of its recommended lifespan.
