The pollen season has started: Hazel and alder are already active
The new year has barely begun, and nature is already sounding the pollen alarm. Anyone who keeps an eye on the regional pollen calendar will know that hazel and alder have been in bloom since the beginning of the year and are spreading their pollen throughout Switzerland. Allergy sufferers are therefore already feeling the effects, although the main pollen season in our region usually lasts from March to July. In January, hazel and alder dominate. Willow and ash will follow at the end of January / beginning of February. These early bloomers react strongly to increases in temperature, so that mild winters or individual warm days can bring their flowering forward. The early flowering of the purple alder, which releases pollen at temperatures of over five degrees, illustrates how important it is for allergy sufferers to take precautionary measures in good time.
The following things are effective and can be implemented quickly to help allergy sufferers get through everyday life without symptoms:
- Use a pollen calendar: Find out about the current pollen count in your region
- Change clothes: After spending time outdoors, clothing and shoes should not be stored in bedrooms or living rooms.
- Wash your hair frequently: Especially before going to bed, this can help remove pollen from your hair.
Allergens in the air don’t stop at your front door.
It is therefore important to take long-term preventative measures for your home too.
To keep pollen levels as low as possible, ventilation should be done selectively - ideally early in the morning or after a rain shower, when the pollen load outside is at its lowest. The use of air purifiers is also essential for a pollen-free indoor climate, as they filter even the finest particles out of the air when placed correctly in the room. We also recommend not keeping pollen sources, such as flower bouquets or branches from early bloomers indoors, as they can still release significant amounts of pollen.
Our top priority is to make your home as free from pollen as possible!
In addition to proper ventilation and avoiding pollen sources, our Air Purifier P370 with its 5-stage purification performance offers one of the most effective and modern techniques for improving indoor air quality and alleviating allergy symptoms. Implementing these tips now can help allergy sufferers get through the challenging early blooming season better.
